Cunning Translator Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 29, 2026

Cunning Software, operated by Cass Cunningham, provides Cunning Translator and its related account and beta services. This policy explains how information is handled when you use those services.

Information we handle

How information is used and shared

We use information to provide app features, authenticate accounts, manage access and subscriptions, deliver account emails, respond to support requests, and investigate problems or misuse. Authorized administrators can access account, profile, and beta records for these purposes.

Supported offline features process information on your device. Cloud-assisted features send the audio, text, conversation context, and relevant profile context needed for the requested operation through our service to AI providers, including OpenAI. Device speech and location services may also process information under the policies of Apple, Google, or the service provider. A downloaded language or voice does not mean every feature operates offline.

Hosting and email providers, including Microsoft Azure, process service data. Where payments are used, payment providers such as Stripe process payment details; our account service stores subscription status rather than full payment-card details. Provider processing and retention depend on the applicable service terms. Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where service providers operate. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect the security and rights of users and the service.

Storage and retention

Conversation history is stored locally on your device; the current app keeps up to 20 saved conversations. Sending a cloud request separately transmits the context needed for that feature. Local history is not automatically attached to beta feedback.

Phrase dictionary: the app saves prompting phrases, completed AI suggestions, their translations, language pairs, and usage counts on your device. While Home is idle, it synchronizes these records and counts to your account on our server. Your account dictionary has a personal set and a separately managed set of shared phrases. An automated server process compares account dictionaries and may distribute common phrase/response pairs after they have been contributed independently by the configured minimum number of users (initially three). Shared entries omit account identifiers. Automated screening excludes obvious personal identifiers and sensitive patterns but cannot guarantee that free text is anonymous. Avoid entering sensitive information. Administrators can inspect dictionaries and block shared entries. Cunning Software configures the minimum contributor count, synchronization schedule, and both dictionary limits (initially 150 personal and 100 shared pairs). Home options let you download dictionary updates automatically or update them manually. Turning off automatic downloads does not disable usage synchronization. Dictionary records remain until removed through an account/data-deletion request; uninstalling removes local copies but does not remove server copies. No microphone recordings are uploaded as part of dictionary synchronization.

Account, profile, beta, and service records remain in our systems unless removed through a data-deletion process. Expiration of a beta license or disabling an account does not automatically erase those records. Financial, security, and audit records may need to be retained for legal or operational reasons. Backup copies may persist separately from active records. Contact us about the information retained for your account and requests to delete it.

Your choices and requests

You can leave optional profile fields blank, edit profile information, and control microphone and location permissions in your device settings. Denying a permission may prevent the associated feature from working. Use offline features where supported if you do not want to submit content for cloud processing. Avoid including sensitive information about yourself or your conversation counterpart in content you submit.

To request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, email support@cunningsw.com. Identify Cunning Translator and the email address used for that app. We may need to verify your identity before acting. Do not send your password or authentication codes. Rights and any permitted exceptions depend on applicable law. Uninstalling the app does not delete your server account or cancel a subscription.

Security, children, and policy updates

We use measures such as encrypted network connections, password hashing, and authenticated access to protect information. No system can guarantee absolute security. If a child's personal information has been submitted and you want it reviewed or removed, contact us.

We may update this policy as features and practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to support@cunningsw.com.
